Anne Morse-Huércanos
PhD in Demography and Sociology
I'm a demographer specializing in large-scale population dynamics, with expertise in U.S. and global demographic trends—particularly fertility. As a subject-matter expert, I have been cited by and consulted with journalists from various outlets including the New York Times, The Atlantic, 60 minutes, the Financial Times, Bloomberg, AP News, and National Geographic.

I spent over five years at the U.S. Census Bureau, where I worked across several areas aligned with my expertise. With the U.S. Population Estimates and Projections Branch, I contributed to producing annual estimates of the U.S. population by age, sex, race, and ethnicity and to producing long-term population projections of the U.S. by demographic detail. As a demographer with the International Programs Center, I was the team-lead for the population estimates and projections for the International Database. I also led workshops in producing population projections for statistical offices in low-and-middle income countries. With the Family and Fertility Studies Branch, I worked with a range of domestic fertility and family surveys.

I hold a Ph.D. in Demography and Sociology from Penn State University, where I focused on building a rigorous methodological foundation; my dissertation centered on probabilistic population projections. I also completed graduate certificates in Quantitative Methods and Survey Methodology. I hold a Bachelor's degree in Political Economics from UC Berkeley.
